1997
Due to relocation to new airport, GSEL had managed all Unit Load Device (ULD) and
Ground Support Equipment (GSE) repair projects. GSEL was a renowned engineering
company to provide GSE and ULD repair services in Hong Kong International Airport.
1998
The Grand Opening of GSEL was on 28-July-1998 and it was the first candidate to
obtain certification of HKAR-145 Approved Maintenance Organisation specialized as
ULD repair station to provide repair, overhaul, assembly, inspection and alternation
to ULD in Hong Kong and had serviced many air carriers ULDs like Polar Air Cargo,
Atlas Air, Northwest Airlines, DHL, UPS, Kalitta Air, United Airlines etc, with
monthly throughput of 2,500 cargo nets, 2,000 pallets and 1,000 LD3 containers.
1999
GSEL was accredited to ISO 9001 by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency for quality
management system standard to repair and maintenance of powered and non-powered
airport GSE, ULD and vehicles.
2000
Another major milestone for GSEL was to become
the accredited repair agency as Federal Aviation Administration FAR-145 Approved
Repair Station specialized on ULD.
2001
In 2001, GSEL was appointed by Kowloon Motors
Bus (KMB) / Roadshow as the main contractor to design, supply, install and maintain
the Multi-Media On-Board (MMOB) system in the fleet of 4,000 double-deck buses and
public light bus
2004
Cathay Pacific Airways and Jardine Aviation Services took
full control of GSEL and they became the major shareholders of GSEL.
GSEL formed
a sister company Vehicle Engineering Services Limited (VESL) to manage the projects
outside Hong Kong International Airport.
2005
GSEL applied the comprehensive cost
structure approach to implement Service Level Agreement (SLA) to the major shareholders
for significant maintenance cost reduction on their GSEs.
Incorporated fully integrated
Workshop Information System (WIS) to provide real time data on vehicles in the workshop.
2006
Since its inception, the GSEL name has become well-known with reliability,
integration, commitment and knowledge associated across the maintenance, repair
and overhaul of airport Ground Support Equipment, vehicles and vehicle multi-media
systems.
Today GSEL-VESL is the major market shareholder to carry out GSE maintenance
of Hong Kong International Airport.
